SUFIRA

Formed in the summer of 2006, Sufira set out to celebrate the colourful heritage of it's Bristol based members, who are Spanish English and Irish. Sufira create their own original, soulful tunes which evoke passion and encourage celebration of all that life is. Sufira have been gigging in Bristol, playing regularly at local haunts The Bocabar, Prom music bar, Mr Wolfs and River bar. They have also played at prestigious London world music venues, Notting Hill arts club "Movenientos" and Passing Clouds Hackney. Finalists at the Glastonbury New Talent competition Sufira secured a slot at the 2008 Glastonbury Festival.

"Bristol's homegrown answer to Chambao, Ojos de Brujo and other contemporary mestizo bands. Combining Latin & Hispanic tunes with Ska, English folk & dance grooves...add a sprinkling of Flamenco guitar, the haunting sound of the hang and you have the passionate m lange that is Sufira"
