With free live music every night the Old Duke is one of Bristol's most reliable pub venues. Though called The Old Duke (after Duke Ellington) and having an interior literally covered with jazz posters and magazine excerpts, the Duke isn't a strictly jazz-only pub.
Expect a squeeze (in a good way) on Friday and Saturday nights, when the Old Duke gets seriously rammed and when they generally book more lively bands. Given it's central location, The Old Duke attracts a friendly and surprising music-wise crowd, a healthy mix from jazz-heads to more alternative students.
