After the success of the first I L K I N featuring SYNKRO.
We return to TB2 to provide you with another night of fresh contemporary electronic sounds. This time at the top of the list we have the likes of ELIPHINO. The unbelievable success of his latest somethinksounds release (needs no introduction) has shown that this is set to be a massive year for this young producer.
Like many producers, Leeds native Tom Wrankmore took to beatmaking at a young age, saving up to buy an MPC so he could start making music. His first productions were strongly influenced by hip-hop, garnering comparisons to artists like Madlib and other LA experimentalists based on his Out of Phase and Seasons EPs.
Now residing in London, he's broadened his sound palette and has begun mucking about with house and garage, getting a track signed to Gilles Peterson's Brownswood Electric compilation, remixing a wide range of artists within the same field, dropping the Undivided Whole EP on the somethinksounds label and a track on the Manchester based hoya hoya label alongside Lone and Ras G. DJ sets are eclectic incorporating sounds from a wide spectrum including hip hop, garage, house, rnb, dancehall and jungle.
His newest single'More Than Me' is a rolling, rising dance floor killer and is getting played out by many a veteran ear including Caribou, Bonobo and Jamie XX and has been the backbone of many a top 10 tunes of 2011 list for music enthusiasts in the digital stratosphere.
A Bristol- & London-based duo who have quietly been building up a lot of support over the last half a year or so, My Nu Leng first came to our attention with the lurching'Fireflies' as a standout track on their debut'Fireflies EP' on MindStep late last year, and since then have been impossible to pin down as they continually bring something fresh to the table with their beats. Switching with ease between a range of styles around the 130bpm mark, and with crisp production to boot, it's hard to pin down a particular genre in which they fit.
Recently signed to Paramount Artists with a busy calendar of bookings & a weekly show on Rood FM; the recently released'Time Goes By' (featuring J-One on the remix duties & out next month) on MindStep Music; the anticipated'Fireflies Remix EP' featuring a VIP & remixes from Tunnidge & more; a forthcoming EP on LNUK featuring the highly anticipated'Damp' with a remix from Last Japan and remixes for a whole host of artists, it seems that the My Nu Leng have built themselves a solid platform from which to take on 2012.
