PHANTASIA
By Corali
//
Phantasia brings together two new performance works by Corali - Daisy Dreams and Mannequin Dreams.
Both performances are exciting expressions of the relationship between movement and sound-making. Bold and imaginative, they present opposing visions of a future world - one a dream, the other a nightmare.

Daisy Dreams
Inspired by painter Mark Beldan’s flower works, and created in collaboration with musician Matt Webb, Daisy Dreams features a cast of eight dancers and exists at the meeting point of image, movement and sound.
Toying with sentimentality, it creates an atmosphere of almost impossible dreaminess that is both joyful and absurd.

Mannequin Dreams
"You are number 111 in the operating system. Please hold. Your call is important to us. Hello. We are a new civilisation. We move backwards and spin in circles. A memory once there now lost, a memory where I was somebody different; someone who wasn’t abstract."
Inspired by Corali dancer Jackie Ryan’s idea to work with mannequins, the performance creates a surreal, almost horror-film atmosphere. Nine dancers create a new reality based on memories of a previous world and what it was to be human.
