The Island Bristol - home to more than 100 artists and 50+ circus studio members - occupies the former Bridewell Police Station and remains one of the city's most distinctive creative spaces. On Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 October, both the ground and first-floor studios will open to the public for the Island's popular annual Open Studios event, with visitors able to meet resident artists, take free taster classes in circus and dance, and explore an exhibition showcasing the work of Island studio holders in the Gallery, all for free.
Artspace Lifespace (@artspaceuk) will launch its anniversary year at The Island Bristol during The Island Open Studios 2026, with a weekend of open studios, exhibitions and a family-friendly activity day on the Saturday, delivered in partnership with Creative Youth Network - opening up the Bridewell Island courtyard and The Courts to the public. Expect Hula Hooping, Classical Indian Dance, Sewing workshops and creativity across the whole building.
