303Myth.RAR (Joe Coghill)

A highly sophisticated DAW system bot first built by sound pioneer John Margotti in New York City in 1992. The original prototype, the 303a, which has since undergone innumerable upgrades, was designed to generate, synchronise and sequence modular audio autonomously. The system was designed to identify recurrent waveforms, patterns and frequencies common in popular dance music. The 303Getty, developed in 2001, has since logged 82,032 acid house compositions to its database. Today the program uses complex algorithms to calibrate multiple command scripts, assembling varying dance compositions alone at unprecedented speeds – the 303Myth can now run an ACID LP task in under six seconds. It marks an extraordinary era for both dance music and evolutionary AI.

Joe Coghill, developer of the 303Myth.RAR is a multi-disciplinary artist, musician and experimental publisher. He is without doubt one of the most exciting musicians currently working in Edinburgh today.

Their record Contemporary Art in Digital Culture is due to be released through the Cabinet Gallery this year.

Ailie Ormston

‘The Sedate / Tony Soprano Fashion Inspo.' (forthcoming on 50% PURE) is a record combining music composed for the performance group Stasis during their residency at Tramway, Glasgow and a series of highly surged, nonplussed solo compositions.

To be free

All-sensory + necessarily positioned clunks

A long soft moan of displeasure

Listening to the world around

With boredom, what a revelation!

Spike it, douse it, light it

Chaos and how to control it

We tried…

(CHAMP was an artist collective, until they experienced a reawakening on a visit to the majestic Scottish highlands.

Now performing as a musical outfit, prepare to experience something you might’ve heard before but also might not have – we’ll see what happens.)
