This event is open to EVERYONE so please brings your parents, children, family member or friend to share this lovely experience of working together to create you own miniature ecosystem.
Not your average couple of beers in the pub with your Sunday dinner. This Mothers Day Terram Pacifici offers a unique guided workshop where each participant can create their own miniature ecosystem, using bioluminescent mushrooms and small tropical plants inside a beautiful sealed glass vessel.
The first terrarium was developed by botanist Nathaniel Bagshaw Ward in 1842. Ward had an interest in observing insects and accidentally left one of his jars unattended. A fern spore in the jar grew, germinated into a plant, and this jar resulted in the first terrarium! After months of traveling, the plants arrived from Australia to London well and thriving. His experiment indicated that plants can be sealed in without ventilation and continue to grow, the terrarium was born!
Terrarium workshops have become a popular in recent years as gardening has been highlighted to play a role in preventing dementia in old age and preserving cognitive health.
The workshop will feature a brief history of Terrariums talk while you are treated to organic prosecco
