BLG Promotions are proud to present:

London Astrobeat Orchestra
Celebrating 50 Years of Abbey Road with a West African Afrobeat tribute.

Sat 23rd Nov. The Lanes, 22 Nelson Street, BS1 2LE

As the Autumn marks the 50th anniversary of The Beatles’ last ever recorded studio album 'Abbey Road', we've prepared a special night to celebrate.

Taking great inspiration from the Blues created in the southern states of the US, this classic reinvented one last time the sound of the legendary band and it went on to become a giant influence over the Pop-Culture of the 20th century. As Blues’ origins travel back to West Africa and predominantly to the Bambara ethnic group from Mali who made up the majority of slaves arriving in Louisiana and Mississippi, for this very special show The London Astrobeat Orchestra will be paying tribute to the album in their own unique Wild West African way with the intention to finally take these sounds back home to their roots.

This will be a historic and unprecedented evening of AfroBeatleMania in which we’ll be dancing to treasured classics entangled with intricate Malian Kora’s sounds and a backbeat of Afro-Mandingue grooves.

Having sold out 4 consecutive nights at London’s Jazz Cafe, and performing locally at Simple Things Festival and Colston Hall, we are enormously excited to host LAO at the Lanes on Saturday Nov 23rd.

Meet the band:
- Legendary band leader & Bassist 'Edd Bateman' hosting rhythmic influences from Senegal, Guinea Conakry, Mali, Cameroon and Congo.
- Lingala singer and soukous aristocrat ‘King Fire’
- Blues rock and astropheric soundscaping guitarist and Vocalist ‘Julian Burdock’,
- Guinean Master Griot Kora player ‘Mosi Conde’
- Mbalax rhythm machine 'Badou N'Diaye'.

Tickets from £8 via Headfirst and Bristol Ticket Shop
