on Thursday 7th November. The event starts at 20:00.
Join Amak Mahmoodian and Roxana Vilk for an interactive performance/workshop around sleep and dreaming, during Amak's show, One Hundred and twenty minutes (As part of Bristol Photo Festival).
You will get a chance to view the exhibition at night and then be guided through a voice and body relaxation which we will use as a frame for delving into our dream landscapes as a spark for creative work and exploration.
Bring a pillow, note book, pen and comfy clothes.
Roxana Vilk (Iran/UK) is an award winning musician, actor and filmmaker. At the heart of her process is collaboration and inclusive practice.
She has worked with a wide variety of UK communities, as well as internationally across post-war zones, to create work around the themes of roots, heritage, belonging and identity.
Recently, round the corner from 17 Midland Road gallery, Roxana was Associate Artist at Trinity Centre working with the local community to co-create a multi-disciplinary work called 'Lullabies' which explored migration to Bristol through songs and heritage stories.
Amak Mahmoodian's artistic practice explores the representation of gender, identity and displacement, bridging a space between personal and political. Working with images, poems, archives and videos, she explores the lyrical reality in photographs.
17 Midland Road’s extended opening hours and this event are part of the City Centre and High Streets Culture and Events Programme, funded by Bristol City Council and the West of England Combined Authority.
Entry requirements: no age restrictions (under 18s to be accompanied by an adult over 21yrs, 1:1 ratio)
