BLOOM presents Spindle Ensemble vinyl launch at All Hallows Hall, Easton
Headfirst Editor's Pick

"Connecting the dots between Bristol’s elite musicians as much as between genres. With members of The Unthanks, Count Bobo and Tezeta, it’s not surprising Spindle Ensemble are gaining a reputation as a bit of a super group. More than just the sum of their parts, delicate and mesmerising sequences erupt into staccato exchanges and blistering marimba improvisation. Blythe Pepino’s new Mesadorm project completes the bill. Tickets £6):"

Spindle Ensemble is an experimental instrumental quartet from Bristol's music collective 'Bloom'. They perform original compositions by Daniel Inzani that hover cinematically somewhere between jazz, folk and classical idioms, taking inspiration from artists such as Moondog, Eric Satie and Mulatu Astatke. They will be releasing their debut album, Bea, as a luxury gatefold vinyl edition via new label Adderwell Music on 17/11/17 and presenting it to Bristol at this launch event.

“Beautiful sounds, definitely a band to watch”

Fiona Talkington, Late Junction, BBC Radio 3

“(Spindle Ensemble) crafted beautifully layered landscapes of sound with enormous empathy for each other’s playing. Following their own highly original musical pathways”

MESADORM

Blythe Pepino recently parted ways with the band Vaults after a 3 year stint signed to Virgin Records. Although the project ended amicably she struggled to feel at home in the realm of popular music and never lost her passion for the strange and left-field. Gratefully she returns to the world of arthouse music armed with an album brimming with psychedelic ideas and philosophical observations. This acoustic trio performance also features Jo Silverston on cello (Spindle Ensemble, The Unthanks) and Daisy Palmer on drums (Goldfrapp, Hannah Peel).

Mesadorm's debut album 'Heterogaster' will be out on Babylegs records in the spring of 2018.
