Our remarkable panel will be discussing the challenges and injustices they face as black women in the creative industry - an industry facing a diversity crisis across gender and race.

Chidera Eggerue of The Slumflower
Award winning blogger and author heralded as “The millennial mastermind” by Elle magazine, Chidera Eggerue has reached millions online through her uplifting blog The Slumflower. With over 61.9K followers on twitter, Chidera has just published her bestselling book What A Time to Be Alone and created a hashtag #SAGGYBOOBSMATTER. She continues to lead empowering breakout conversations on body positivity and self love.

Munroe Bergdorf
Transgender model, activist, documentary maker, resident DJ, LGBT advisor: Munroe Bergdorf has earnt widespread prominence across a range of projects in the public eye. She was the first transgender model in the UK for L’Oreal, was previously LGBT advisor to the Labour Party and more recently has presented a Channel 4 documentary which examines the changing world of gender and identity.

Vanessa Kisuule
Best known for her poetry slam titles and named as this year’s City Poet for Bristol, Vanessa has performed at coveted venues such as The Royal Albert Hall, Bristol Old Vic, The British Library and at numerous festivals including Secret Garden Party and Glastonbury. In her role as Bristol City Poet she aims to reach diverse groups across the city, encouraging everyone to share their stories and experiences, which together make up the narrative of the city.

Eva Lazarus
Bristol based music aficionado Eva Lazarus is the singer/ MC who fronts bass music band Dub Mafia. Having already gained recognition on both BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra, a recent collaboration with Jamaican sound system Mungo’s HiFi marks the first of a series of releases for Eva, with other collaborators including Zed Bias and Gentleman’s Dub Club.
This panel event will be chaired by our Undergraduate Education Officer Nasra Ayub and hosted by our Student Living Officer Vanessa Wilson.
This is an inclusive event and anyone who wants to celebrate Black History Month is welcome to attend.
