War crimes and genocide: Will the West break with Israel? at Arc Events, 27 Broad Street, BS1 2HG
See event details

A event on Wednesday 6th August. The event starts at 19:00.

As the horror of Israel's genocide in Gaza deepens and the terror state's legitimacy further crumbles in the face of the international mass movement for Palestine, so also the hypocrisy of atrocity-enabling Western Governments is left increasinlgly exposed.

Here in the UK, Starmer notoriously at a much earlier stage publicly supported Israel's 'right' to keep Gaza under siege and stop vital supplies getting through. Since then he has disgusted a vast swathe of the public by prioritising US-led imperialist interests in the Middle East over the lives of tens of thousands of Palestinian children. In an acknowledgement that they have lost the political argument, his Government has intensified its crackdown on supporters of Palestine.

What will it will take for the West to break with Israel? What are the prospects for the Boycott, Disinvestment and Sanctions (BDS) strategy inspired by the movement in the 1970s and 1980s against apartheid in South Africa?

Join us to discuss what social forces would be capable of breaking Israel's stranglehold over the Palestinian people.
