A
event
on Thursday 10th October. The event starts at 20:00.
We have now been given the go-ahead to organise a weekly event in Bristol city centre. The Arc (http://www.facebook.com/arcbristol) in Broad St, Bristol is a community centre/club in the centre of Bristol which is home to the'Palestinian Embassy' and a wealth of other anti-imperialist and radical events.
Every Thursday from 7pm we will have an open discussion around the theme'No Borders', before starting an open mic/jam session from around 8pm.
The discussions are open to anyone, whatever their nationality or politics, although racism or other forms of discriminatory language or behavior will not be tolerated. Whoever shows up each week can decide for themselves what they want to talk about that week.
The discussions could start with someone who has recently arrived in the UK talking about why they left their home country and what their experience of the UK Border Agency has been, or someone who has never left Bristol talking about how they understand issues relating to immigration, imperialism and racism, or just with talking about what's in the news that week, or anything really so long as it is relevant to the overall idea.
The organisers of the event will not set the agenda or kick out people who don't agree with us, but we explain our reasons for believing in the necessity for global working-class revolutionary unity to anyone who wishes to debate this.
Hopefully it will be interesting and enlightening for all involved. We want people to feel like they understand one another better so that they can go on to become friends while listening to music together.
The Open Mic/Jam Session will allow any musicians or other types of performers space to get on stage, whatever their level of experience. There will be a whole bunch of instruments around for people to spontaneously start jamming with each other as well, and hopefully not only will we get to hear a whole load of songs from all around the world, but also get into some good rhythms to go along with them too.
Interzone Music is also about recording music to publish online for free, especially music that expresses the idea of global unity, either through lyrics or through the combination of different musical styles from around the world. We will try to get good recordings of all the nights and publish the best tracks online.
We also want the nights to lead to musicians getting to know each other and being able to meet up again elsewhere to work on new collaborations which we can also record and publish online.
Interzone Music is a very loose group open to anyone to get involved and contribute as much or as little as they want to. If you've heard of it and you like the idea then you are already a member of it, so come and meet other members at the Arc every thursday from 7pm
