After thorough discussions with the artists and venues, Kamilya Jubran and Werner Hasler’s upcoming Bristol show will no longer be taking place on Friday. Given the developing situation, our priority will always be the wellbeing and safety of our artists and audiences. We therefore thank you for your patience and understanding during these times.
Arnolfini and Marsm will be working together to secure a date in the future and will keep you updated. Current tickets will still be valid for a future date, or you can request a refund through Headfirst.
Palestinian musician, composer, Oudist and one of the most revered figures for today’s younger generation of experimental and alternative Arabic music scenes, Kamilya Jubran, collaborates with long standing musical partner, Swiss composer, accomplished trumpet player and seasoned electronic musician Werner Hasler. With over 40 years of a pioneering musical legacy, Jubran and Hasler are now touring to promote ‘Wa’, their latest album together described by The Quietus as ‘utterly distinctive, mysterious, expansive…and all the more rewarding for it’.
Support on the night comes from the Iraqi multi-instrumentalist and composer Khyam Allami who explores contemporary and novel approaches to the Oud and the rich history of Arabic scales by magnifying them with electroacoustics.
Join us for a night celebrating some of the leading contemporary musical figures from the Middle East and beyond, which celebrates the spearheading artistry and creativity that flourishes in the region.
This event has been made possible with support from Arts Council England and Al Araby TV.
This event is all ages.
Arnolfini is wheelchair accessible.
