A event held at Arnolfini on Saturday 30th March. The event starts at 13:00.

Some Notes on Books and Printing presents a facsimile of Charles Jacobi's 1892 edition alongside new texts, to trouble conventional assumptions of 'obsolescence' and provoke a relationship to history that is unfettered from the demands of 'progress'.

At this launch event we will hold a conversation between contemporary publishers, printers and bookbinders from the London Centre for Book Arts, to discuss some of the themes of Jacobi's book and how they are of contemporary relevance.

Some Notes on Books and Printing is the first title published by Temporal Drag, an imprint of A6 BOOKS. Our conversation will therefore touch on the aims of this new imprint, which republishes old texts (on book and print culture) to consider the potential of engaging with ‘obsolete’ practices in the here and now.

A6 BOOKS is a project by the London Centre for Book Arts. The aim is to help promote and distribute books, zines and publications by emerging artists. With a simple criteria (work must be A6 size [105x148mm]) and a rolling, inclusive and open submission process, we hope to create a new way for artists to reach their readers.
