An event held at Arnolfini on Sunday 15th November. The event starts at 11:30.
We are delighted to bring our morning Indian classical music concert back to Arnolfini for our New Sounds festival.
In Indian classical music, ragas are traditionally associated with different times of the day. This special morning concert draws on that rich tradition, offering audiences a unique opportunity to experience acclaimed sarod player Debasmita Bhattacharya performing a programme of morning ragas.
Presented in a relaxed and welcoming setting, the concert is open to everyone whether you are familiar with Indian classical music or experiencing it for the first time.
The sarod is an instrument capable of astonishing subtlety and power, and few musicians play it with more imagination than Debasmita Bhattacharya.
One of India’s most exciting youg sarod players, she balances classicism with an expansive modern mindset, pushing Hindustani music into the 21st century without diluting its core values.
Joined by acclaimed tabla artist Zuheb Ahmed Khan, this concert promises exhilarating improvisation, intricate rhythmic dialogue and music that is both deeply rooted in tradition and thrillingly alive in the moment.
One of India’s leading young classical musicians, Debasmita Bhattacharya has earned international acclaim for her breathtaking artistry, dazzling technical mastery, and deeply expressive performances.
