The Anchorage of Time dir: Sol de Carvahlo, 105 minutes, Mozambique, 2024

This beautifully shot “whodunit” tells the story of murder, revenge & solidarity. A recently promoted Police Detective is called to an elderly home set in a former colonial fortress to investigate a crime: the home’s director has been murdered. But he soon becomes aware of the real crime, the home’s very own existence.  He is confronted with a surprise: all the residents have motives due to ongoing abuse they suffered at the home from the director, and he slowly discovers that the real crime was revenge.
