SOUND | Tetsuya Umeda, Dirty Electronics, Tim Shaw at Arnolfini

A gig held at Arnolfini on Sunday 30th September. The event starts at 19:30.

Japanese sound-artist and performer Tetsuya Umeda is renowned for crafting exploratory sound works, transforming domestic objects, scrap materials, and the architecture of a venue itself into the materials of extraordinary performance. Often incorporating physics and elemental forces - gravity, wind, fire, water - Umeda creates miraculous sound from everyday materials.

John Richards, also known as, Dirty Electronics, creates sound performance/installations that use ritual, gesture, touch and social interaction. Known for his work in large-group electronic music and DIY electronics, and a ‘music of things’, his work embraces histories of performance art and electronics - a transdisciplinary practice with a socio-political dimension.

Tim Shaw is an artist interested in the relationship between site and technology. His practice attempts to expose the mechanics of systems and to reveal the hidden aspects of communication and recording technologies.

Coming together for their Sacrificial Floors tour, these three artists present a series of process-led performance installations. This unique collaboration focuses on making and unmaking, dismantling and analyzing, and how prototypic, extended electronic circuits and technological processes can create unexpected contemporary sound art.
