Grief Walks at Arnolfini
Pay what you can

A event held at Arnolfini on Thursday 22nd January. The event starts at 11:30.

Join a gently facilitated grief walk inspired by Emma Talbot: Everything is Energy — a shared space to reflect on bereavement, memory and loss.

These guided walks invite participants to explore aspects of bereavement through quiet reflection and shared conversation. Taking inspiration from themes in the exhibition, reflections will be made on history, politics, geography, wildlife, folklore, and the traces of ghosts and spirits as ways of thinking about grief and our ever-changing relationship with loss.

Grief can be caused by many things: the death of a person or companion animal that we love; the loss of a home or place that makes us feel safe; a sense of despair about climate change; the impact of social and economic violence that can be inflicted of members of our communities. By walking together to explore some of grief’s many facets, we participate in an activity that is also profoundly interlinked with history. Walking in solidarity with the dead is embedded into many cultures and practices. Our landscapes, urban and rural, are shaped by changes wrought by different kinds of loss.

The routes are gentle and accessible; no previous experience is required.

Walk 1: Thursday 22 January, 11.30am - 12.30pm, a pavement-based and wheelchair accessible stroll around Bristol harbour

Walk 2: Thursday 22 January, 5 - 6pm, an exploration of Emma Talbot’s work in Arnolfini's gallery spaces.

Please book a place and pay what you can.

Please arrive at Arnolfini's front desk area 5 minutes before the walk starts. Each walk will start and end at Arnolfini.
