See event details

A event held at Arnolfini on Thursday 5th February. The event starts at 19:00.

Sharing a work-in-progress performance piece, exploring two women's experiences of getting older.

Hannah and Kamina have been writing to each other about age since 2023, when Kamina turned 60, and Hannah turned 35. They have been bringing this text into the studio, using it to develop a shared improvised movement practice. Hannah moves whilst Kamina reads Hannah's text, Kamina moves whilst Hannah reads Kamina's text. They are delighted to share this work-in-progress performance piece on women and age, alongside Emma Talbot's exhibition.

“When I write about age I sense I am in the language of magic; tricks, surprises, amazed, loop-de-loops, how and where you look, or place attention/value, what you are choosing to see.” Hannah

“Speaking to you the other day about the link between age and invisibility, particularly as a woman, made me wonder when I realised that I’d become invisible. I think it might have been somewhere in my forties…” Kamina

A durational performance, audience members are welcome to come and go. Our galleries will be open throughout, featuring Emma Talbot's Everything is Energy. The audience is invited to consider the thematic links between the exhibition and the performance.
