event
held at Arnolfini
on Wednesday 24th February. The event starts at 18:30.
Issy Wood’s paintings suggest a stream of consciousness hiding something foreboding, a medieval current creeping into the millennial, and a psyche trying to consolidate what it means to be objectified, what is an object, and how is value attributed.
A solo exhibition of Wood’s work, “Good Clean Fun,” is currently on view at X Museum, Beijing. Recent presentations of her work have also been staged at Goldsmiths Centre for Contemporary Art, London; The Schinkel Pavillon, Berlin; and later this year, her work will be on view at the Hayward Gallery, London.
Wood (b. 1993, USA) lives and works in London. She received her BA in Fine Art & History of Art from Goldsmiths University, London in 2015, and her MA from the Royal Academy Schools, London in 2018.
Art in the City is a series of international artist’s talks co-presented by Fine Art UWE Bristol and Arnolfini. Previous speakers include Phyllida Barlow, Sonia Boyce, Jeremy Deller, Martin Creed, Rose Wylie, Imran Perretta, Bob and Roberta Smith, and Laure Prouvost.
