Oppo Comedy is Bristol's legendary new material night. It's been run by generations of up and coming Bristol comics, from Russell Howard and Jon Richardson, all the way through to more recent breakout acts like Morgan Rees and Abi Clarke. We get all sorts of comedy legends and legends-to-be coming to try their new jokes, supported by a roster of local talent. Come on down!
Bio
“Alex Kitson is an “on the money funny” award-winning stand-up comedian, performer and writer. New on the comedy scene in 2018 he has performed across the UK, written for the BBC (‘Incredible... So clever’ - BBC Radio Bristol), Channel 4 and online content with millions of views. He quickly reached the final of First Laugh 2020, New UK Online Comedian of the Year 2020, and the top 12 of Jason Manford’s New Act Competition in 2019. He founded and was resident MC of several of Bristol’s best comedy nights including This Next Act and White Bear Comedy Club. After the pandemic he won the Bath Comedy Festival Award for Best Joke, was a Finalist in Bath New Act of the Year, was selected to host the prestigious 2022 AAA Showcase in the Pleasance Courtyard during the Edinburgh Fringe and began regularly headlining gigs in the West Country. His debut WIP show was nominated for the Best of Brighton Fringe Comedy Award, sold out the Bill Murray in London and enjoyed a successful run at the Edinburgh Fringe. He is planning to debut his first full hour of stand-up at Edinburgh in 2024.
