About:
Bound In Bristol is an 18+ social event for people to share their love of rope bondage. Doors open at 13.30, and there will be an introduction to the space at 13.50. The room will be split into two areas, one for free tying and one for the taster class.

Taster class:
The taster class this month will be on the 'double column tie' taught by Burgundy Rose and Blushing Tiger. They will teach this tie and a variety of practical ways to use it for creative, playful sessions. Participants are welcome to come solo, in pairs or groups as the teaching will be adapted accordingly. Total beginners are welcome. There is a limited amount of communal ropes available to borrow for the day if you do not have your own.

The space:
There will be a large area for tying with beanbags around the edges for those that want to sit, observe and socialise. There are x4 hard points in the space that can be used for single-point suspensions. There is a kitchenette where some tea will be provided. Please bring your own mugs and snacks.

Suspension:
Any suspension work must take place after the taster class, and participants must get explicit permission from the host who will set the point up. If the host has not seen you suspend, you will be asked about your educational background and may be asked to demonstrate an upline. Due to the layout we generally ask for only x2 points to be used at the same time so there is space for floor tying.

Latecomers:
Please arrive by 13.50 to be introduced to the space rules. The door will close at 14.00 and you will not be admitted after that for safety and to prevent disruption to the class. If you will arrive later than 14.00, we can welcome you at 15.30 when someone can let you in and talk through the space and safety rules with you. After this, there will be no-one on door duty. If you want to leave the space and return during the day, make sure you communicate with a friend or attendee in the space to let you back in.

Public Transport:
If you are taking public transport the venue is around 25 minutes from Bristol Temple Meads. This journey is by bus and includes a short (5-10 minute) walk.

Parking:
The venue is in an industrial estate with plenty of free parking on the weekend. You can park in any bay.

Refunds:
If you book a ticket and are unable to attend the event, you can get a full refund up to 7 days before the event starts. Email [email protected] with your booking details and we will refund you. We frequently sell out, so if you need to cancel after this time, you will likely have the option to resell your ticket to the waiting list.

Accessibility:
There are 17 steps leading up to the venue door. A chill-out area with a sofa will be available for anyone needing a quiet space during the jam. There are two gender-neutral toilets located directly next to the studio space.

We intend to create a consensual, inclusive, supportive, respectful atmosphere and ask participants to share these values. Please read the below documents before attending:

About the host:
Burgundy Rose (she/they) is a rope switch, facilitator and artist interested in using the body as a tool for expression. They have been studying Japanese kinbaku/shibari for over a decade, beginning their journey at Anatomie Studio in London and since learning from a broad range of international educators and collaborators. Dynamic, playful and attentive, they are deeply curious about the body and thrive on the intensities - both physical and psychological - that rope can bring out.

Burgundy Rose has training in theatre, dance and aerial circus, which influences their personal style. In 2019 they were awarded a ‘Developing Your Creative Practice’ grant from Arts Council England to deepen their research across rope, dance and physical theatre. Their shibari teaching and creative performances have taken them across the UK, Europe and the USA.
