Glasgow-based musicians Alex Neilson, Jill O’Sullivan and Alasdair Roberts have all long admired the work of the great American songwriter, singer and artist Will Oldham. To mark the launch of Oldham’s book of collected lyrics, Songs of Love and Horror, Alex, Jill and Alasdair have formed the impromptu group Three Queens in Mourning to perform interpretations of some of their favourite songs from his compendious back catalogue. Expect to hear some new versions of greatest Oldham hits from the Palace era to his Bonny Prince Billy incarnation and beyond, as well as some less familiar material.
DAN WELTMAN (solo set)
Opening the evening, will be Bristol songwriter Dan Weltman of Snails and Nine Tree Stumblers playing an all new set.
The Scout Hut seems like the perfect Bristol venue for capturing the spirit of these songs, and this show, limited to 50 capacity is bound to sell out. Some seating will be on the floor, so please bring cushions if you like, and if anyone does need to sit in a chair, please email via this page or to [email protected] and we'll ensure everyone is accomodated.
