HANDS OF THE HERON
Hands of the Heron are a dreamfolk trio from Bristol, UK. Their instantly recognisable vocal harmonies are delivered by three frontwomen, each of whom brings a signature writing style to the band’s mercurial sound. They move effortlessly between sparse choral folk and spellbinding chamber pop, richly layered with an assortment of strings, drones and reeds. For the past few years, they’ve honed their considerable musical skills and songwriting talents in a variety of live settings, from hidden corners of festival fields and intimate acoustic sessions to full sets in some of the country’s most prestigious venues.
They’re excited to be sharing brand new music this summer, following the release of their long-awaited second album 13 Moons in February 2021 on their own DIY label Cuculi Records. The album has been praised as “a wondrous collection of curious story-songs, choral singing and carefully layered instrumentation” (Joyzine) with “songwriting mastery that perfectly delivers reverberating folk-pop” (Tap The Feed), while esteemed jazz critic Ted Gioia recommended 13 Moons as one of his top recordings for 2021. Their music has been played on various radio stations, including BBC Introducing & Upload on BBC Bristol, Ujima and 1020 Radio. So far this summer, they've played at St George's Bristol, Green Man, Fanny's Meadow, Eppyfest, Green Gathering and Purbeck Valley Folk Festival.

Kerry Smith, cherished singer from Bristol, will take to the stage with a selection of her favourite folk songs. Her solo set is something of a rarity as she usually sings with Bristol folk band Young Waters. Expect an emotive set of songs which will leave you feeling full. “Her voice is like a ribbon of gold”
