"A tangible manifesto for building radical queer futures! Rooted in historical community resource sharing, Prashar-Savoie’s debut book imagines genuine, collectivised nightlife networks. Catch them at this idyllic Misscoteque outing discussing their club commons vision with lesbian scene organiser Katherine Griffiths, then serving up dreamy electro, aqueous grooves and 80s vinyl selections to take you into the night."

~Misscoteque is a lesbian-run space for women, non-binary, and trans folk~
Missco are taking over both barns at Bridge Farm for the Bristol launch of Club Commons by Anjali Prashar-Savoie. Expect a queer intergenerational discussion, shared meal, and dance!
Part cultural history, part manifesto, Club Commons refuses a fate of “broken lineages” between forgotten queer dancefloors of the past and those built today: “looking back means we can grow the commons here and now”. Join us in the top barn for a queer intergenerational discussion of Club Commons: Moving Bodies to Grow Movements in Queer Nightlife and Beyond, with DJ and author Anjali Prashar-Savoie and contributor to the book Katherine Griffiths, whose research explores the 80s and 90s lesbian nightlife scene in London that she once participated in - DJ-ing, dancing, organising.
“Queer communities have long transformed parties into something powerful: spaces where care flourishes, injustice gets challenged, and new worlds are danced into being. [...Club Commons] takes you inside hidden stories of resistance and reinvention."
After the discussion we will congregate in the bottom barn, where there’ll be time to digest what you’ve heard, soundtracked by downtempo tunes on wax from amaia. We'll be selling delicious vegan and gluten-free food, lovingly made by the Missco Kitchen with veg from local growing projects. Food profits will go to the TMTG Landworkers Union Boat for Gaza. The night will end on the dancefloor from 8-11pm with sets from Fossa Fossa (Anjali Prashar Savoie) DJ playing out (Katherine Griffiths), amaia and some dandy. Expect euphoric, soulful, camp and funky sounds with Katherine bringing a bag of vinyl straight from the 80s.
Copies of Club Commons will be available on the night to purchase, as well as the return of our community noticeboard, literature table and Tea4T witch - peddling custom herbal brews to raise money for local gender-affirming care. You are also welcome to explore the spring green of Bridge Farm and meet the locals (the resident pigs).
