'[Missorts is] an intriguing adventure in the relationship between technology, art and the city' (New Statesman)
'It's almost like eavesdropping on other people's conversations catching a brief glimpse into their lives through what you over-hear' (The Post)
Novelist Tony White -- 'a serious engaging voice of the modern city' (Guardian) -- will talk about Missorts, his new, permanent public artwork for Bristol inspired by the city's radical literary heritage, and about writing for new digital platforms, including his work with Blast Theory. Tony will be in conversation with Claire Doherty, director of Situations who produced Missorts and who will discuss new approaches to commissioning public artworks such as Missorts.
Tony recently presented a masterclass in Reinventing Fiction for the Guardian newspaper, he gives frequent readings from his fiction at venues ranging from the National Portrait Gallery to Glastonbury music festival, and this is a rare chance to hear him read and discuss his work in Bristol.
The event is part of a programme supporting a new exhibition at the Central Library from March 1st to April 30th. Writing Britain: Bristol Writing explores the city's literary heritage and is held in partnership with the British Library.
