BRISTOL ART WEEKENDER

Four-days celebrating art across the city

2-5 May 2014

Taking place over the bank holiday weekend, the inaugural Bristol Art Weekender offers the chance to explore Bristol's flourishing art scene. Involving over 130 artists, the Weekender's ambitious FREE programme showcases art exhibitions of international acclaim, Bristol's emerging artistic talent, one-off performances and site-specific installations in unexpected locations.

Discover the work of leading artists - Explore Jeremy Deller's English Magic at Bristol Museum & Art Gallery or enter the imagination of Andy Holden at Spike Island and Richard Woods at Works I Projects. Don't miss the chance to hear Holden perform with his band the Grubby Mitts on Friday night and Deller deliver his Sunday Service in the historic John Wesley's Chapel - booking for the Deller event essential.

Go behind the scenes - Spike opens the doors to over 70 artists and designers' studios. Make time to visit this hub of activity during the Weekender and look out for our Weekender Ambassadors for tips on seeking out the hidden gems.

Seek the unexpected - Step into the Lord Mayor's Chapel on Park Street to witness German artist Annika Kahrs' mesmerising installation of 100 songbirds or catch one of Showroom Projects' provocative speeches to the city.

Get lost - Follow one of the self-guided trails and lose yourself in the dizzying experience of Jeppe Hein's mirrored labyrinth, Follow Me or the turbulent sea of a Turner watercolour.

Explore a city of 1000 artists - Pick up, or download, one of the new Bristol Art Maps to find your way through Bristol's vibrant artist-run scene: from Antlers Gallery to Hand in Glove, from BS Deathdrive to BV Studios there's an extraordinary range of work to discover.
