The Animatrix // Paprika Double Bill at Bristol Megascreen @ Bristol Aquarium
Headfirst Editor's Pick

"God-tier double billing of noughties reality-hacking cyber-anime on the MEGA screen! Witness a cult classic of surrealist dreamworld sci-fi from Perfect Blue director Satoshi Kon, paired with an under-the-radar anime extension of The Matrix universe – written and produced by the Wachowski sisters themselves. Essential viewing FFO: Serial Experiments Lain, Ghost in the Shell, Akira."

A event on Saturday 31st January. The event starts at 18:15.

From the mind of Satoshi Kon, director of ‘Perfect Blue,’ comes one of the most highly regarded animated features of all-time. ‘Paprika’ blurs the line between reality and fantasy: when a revolutionary new device allowing psychiatric doctors to enter patients’ dreams is hijacked by terrorists, both magic and monsters run amok.

And we’re delighted to pair this with an equally thrilling, unique, but oft-overlooked anthology feature, written and produced by the Wachowskis.

Expanding on the directorial duo’s visionary sci-fi film series, ‘The Animatrix’ dares to go deeper with its world-building across nine impressive animated segments, each made with collaboration and insight from leading Japanese animation studios – including Madhouse (who worked with the late Satoshi Kon on all of his film features).
