Using live strings, classical percussion and dramatic vocals and storytelling songs, Death & Treason, Rhyme & Reason explores the dark and debauched secrets of our most familiar childhood rhymes.
Elizabeth Westcott, Nuala Honan, Jessica Macdonald, Hannah Martin and Robbie Burgess are the artists behind this part-cabaret, part-gig, which looks at where nursery rhymes came from. The origin of these rhymes does not always lie in the entertainment of the young, yet they appease our children, who sleep in blissful ignorance of the torture and politics, witches and murdered religious leaders that lie beneath their bedtime tales.
