GATHER UP: Morning class with Kip Johnson at Bristol Old Vic
Get Your Ticket

A event held at Bristol Old Vic on Monday 11th March. The event starts at 10:00.

GATHER UP invites different Bristol-based practitioners to lead morning classes to support the continuous training and development of experienced movers and professional dance artists. Morning Class takes place weekly on a Monday morning in term time.

-------------------------------

MORNING CLASS WITH KIP JOHNSON:

This class will be a mixture of bodywork to begin - working in pairs and using touch, structured improvisation, set material and most importantly playfulness to build a space where we can, together, support each other when moving.

As we journey through the class, Kip will draw from release-based dance practice, to play with the cause and effect of movements and how to create a relaxed efficiency whilst moving. Using clear places of initiation in the body and how to control the momentum that is created from these points. A key element of his class are 'crossings' inspired by his training in Body Weather / MB (Mind Body).

Come as you are and find ways to be both porous and curious whilst dancing. Then take this feeling out, beyond and into your day.

ABOUT KIP:
Since graduating Kip has worked with Lea Anderson of the Cholmondeleys, Seke Chimutengwende, Ultima Vez, Vincent Dance Theatre, Protein Dance, Robert Clark, Tilted Productions, Gecko, Fevered Sleep and is currently touring Lost Dog Dance Companies work, Juliet and Romeo. He has also taught professional classes at Greenwich Dance, The Place and guest teaches at Bath Spa University and National Dance Company Wales.
