The Caretaker at Bristol Old Vic
See event details

A event held at Bristol Old Vic on Monday 25th September. The event starts at 19:30pm.

Good-natured handyman Aston has welcomed derelict outsider Davies into his flat, saving him from the streets. While it's not clear where Davies is from or who he really is, he makes clear his determination to leave behind his past and carve out a place in this new home. By befriending his host, could he become the caretaker of the flat?

When Aston's brother Mick arrives, the balance of power shifts between the three men as they strive to make sense of their situation and how they can each use one another to achieve their dreams, whatever the cost.

Christopher Haydon (Grounded, Twelve Angry Men) directs Pinter's 20th century masterpiece in a bold new production that unpicks in brilliant and pertinent detail, the paranoia of living in an ever-changing landscape, the threat of alienation and every man's overpowering desire to belong.
