A event on Tuesday 3rd January. The event starts at 18:30.

Mireinart is pleased to present a series of meetings dedicated to the practice of social dreaming drawing. The sharing of dreams and oneiric materials within a group of people through the method of free associations seeks to encourage hypotheses to identify links and dynamics hidden in the participants' socio-cultural context that can lead to the creation of connections, new thoughts, and positive changes. Dream drawing favors a better understanding and internalization of dream contents that in return can help find solutions to personal and collective problems by imagining new scenarios.

WHAT IS SOCIAL DREAMING? Social dreaming is a methodology born in the 1980s thanks to the pioneering work of Gordon Lawrence and is based on the idea of dreams as an unconscious resource that may help understand the dynamics within a group/organization/society when shared. The restitution of the meanings that dreams take on within the group also allows for the generation of new ideas and thoughts. Dreams can illuminate the shared social context within a group in the same way as they can illuminate the unconscious life of the individual during an analysis/therapy process.
Social Dreaming is a methodology that recovers, therefore, the social function of the dream, as it probably could have been in the past: an exquisitely revelatory function and therefore, from an anthropological and social point of view, a relational and cultural modality and experience capable of bringing to light the ways in which we are immersed in a cultural context and why.

WHY SOCIAL DREAMING DRAWING? With reference to the work done by Mersky (2017), drawing is added to the social dreaming practice to allow latent dream content to emerge in a spontaneous way without having to rely on verbal language. Drawing can be conceived as a tool with transformative power, capable of regenerating the imaginary and/or bringing insights into the dream content by using the same language.

WHERE AND WHEN: Sessions will take place on Tuesdays (December and January) from 6.30 pm to 8 pm in the charming Bristol Vintage and antique shop at 15 West St, Bristol (Old Market) BS2 0DF. The dates are 6/13/20 December 2022 and 3/10/17 January 2023. You can attend a single session for £8 (concession £5) or all six for £40 (contact [email protected]).
Drawing materials and paper are provided, but you can bring your own if you wish.

WHO IS IT FOR: The meetings are aimed at all people with no previous requirements or experience. It is intended to offer a protected and safe space to favor processes of inclusion suspending judgment. In fact, sharing dreams and dream materials within a group can be an opportunity to connect with one's intimate world but also to understand others and the relationships that bind us to others.
Knowing how to draw or artistic talent is not necessary for the activity, but the type of experience can certainly be enriching for those who carry out an artistic activity. Dreams are aesthetic and metaphysical experiences able to stimulate imagination and creativity.

IMPORTANT: The session can only start when all the participants are present, so it is important to be on time. The first 10-15 minutes are usually used to introduct the activity. If you find yourself being late - don't worry - you can still attend the session, but just send a message to Marta 0774986761.
