Something Borrowed, Something Blue is a poetry event series.

This isn’t an open mic or a circle-jerk; it's a monthly meeting place to read poetry, and discuss writing practice and performance. Each session we'll broadly discuss two questions: how and why do we write?

We'll follow a loose structure of both readings and discussion. Participants are encouraged to perform both their "borrowed" texts, i.e. poetry/prose from an existing writer, as well as a text of their own/something they are currently working on (the "something blue").

Following this, we will consider these texts as a group and discuss the session’s theme.

It’s hot, and Desire is this month’s theme! Poets, and readers of poetry, have come to the medium since its invention to express, wrestle with, and indulge in their desires. While desire is conventionally conflated with sexual and romantic longing (and work dealing with this is very welcome), we’re also interested in diverse wants and needs here. Maybe the desire is for a better way of life; for a particular future (or a particular past); for retribution, or for forgiveness. Desire can be of the body, and beyond the body (and the two often interact). We’re excited to find out what this means to you, what other ideas you have, and to hear your work. All welcome; yearners encouraged.

Funds raised from tickets will be donated to @dandeliondiy. No one turned away for lack of funds.

Getting there: We're a short walk away from the Old Market bus station(s) (where all the pubs are). We'll be around ahead of the event in the evening if you're in need of directions!
