SSP#5 w/ Jo Montgomerie, Thomas LaRoche & CH3 at Cafe Kino
See event details

A gig held at Cafe Kino on Friday 21st June. The event starts at 19:00.

Sensitivity sound program returns to Cafe Kino basement for a meeting of two of the most singular voices in modern experimental music, performing live and supported by more obscure netherworld poundshop vinyl from Avon Terror Corps and Chewing Glass Collective affiliates - as always deployed through the mighty CGC rig for maximum cranial disarmament

Jo Montgomerie and Thomas LaRoche (aka Creep of Paris) seemingly share some sonic DNA, standing out from other contemporary audio alchemists due to their ability to create music that straddles a line between the corporeal and some other unknown liminal space - sounds are presented as both mechanical yet organic, elegant but menacing, with fragments of familiarity moving in the distance, beckoning towards us though never quite forming in reach - while their music oftentimes presents as discomforting, it never feels unsafe, like we are guided through it by some unseen presence that we're never quite certain whether to trust...

Jo Montgomerie has overseen an incredible run of releases on Brachliegen Tapes, Helen Scarsdale Agency and Industrial Coast. Her music sculpted out of tape loops, found sound, beautiful piano compositions and by using a variety of different audio techniques to create rich tapestries of sound that envelope and overpower the listener into a state of giddy submission

Thomas LaRoche, known otherwise as Creep of Paris has overseen 10 or so years of wildly experimental releases on his own imprint Research Laboratories, with others on Drowned by Locals and Chocolate Monk. His music is spectral, enigmatic and with distant voices echoing in chorus, inviting us to take a seat at the table and close our eyes as we say grace - musique concrète but the concrète has not yet set and you're on hands and knees trying to crawl out of it while you bathe in gloopy oblivion

in support will be DJ sets from Avon Terror Corps mainstay (and all round legend) CH3 and CGC/SSP newcomer Bald Jesus, bringing the worst of their vinyl collection to set the mood of the night ahead - program 5 will be powered by the formidable CGC Soundsystem and our usual lysergic projections will also be broadcast to confound and confuse alike

this will be the first of a final three programs before the schedule concludes - sensitivity sound program aims to heal all attendees of their earthly concerns and we invite you to participate so that you are able to join us when the time comes...
