Painted Bird is the moniker of Angus Rogers, poet and frontman of cult jazz-punk group Opus Kink. His solo outfit repurposes familiar morbid tendencies in a litany of old-world folk, classic country, hymnals and wonky chanson. Accompanied by a revolving cast of crooners and players - most prominently Maisy Banks (The Winches) - to best garnish songs of love, hate, loss and questionable moral character.
Caitlin Lamb was a gentle home birth, conceived by strumming on an antique mandolin with thoughts of medieval literature and forgotten lands. It grew into many upon many woeful and poignant folk songs.
Sam Abbo’s solo work casts an outsider-folk lens on themes of anxiety, absurdity, love and daily magic. A prolific recorder and performer, his albums and live shows expose and elucidate difficult themes within an eclectic and strangely uplifting sonic world.
