Kai & Hollis + Fritillaries at Cafe Kino

A gig held at Cafe Kino on Sunday 11th October. The event starts at 20:00.

Kai & Hollis are a Bristol-based band making alt-pop earworms with a cynical smile. Music for people who want to feel optimistic but don't. With a mellow blend of jangly guitar riffs, minimal drumming, vocal harmonies and humorously introspective lyrics, they create compact songs that are knowingly relatable and playfully dark. They will be playing songs from their forthcoming second album, Things Are Bad But You Are Good, recorded earlier this year with Mike West.

Fritillaries is the original project of contemporary folk songwriter Hannah Pawson, a Bristol-based musician using guitar and banjo. Taking her name from the Snake’s Head Fritillary, a flower of rebirth and hope, Hannah weaves worlds into her songs. Her latest record Thank God I Have The Songs (Cuculi Records), gained critical attention from BBC Introducing, Folking, Americana UK, FATEA's album of the week, a 'fresh find' on Fresh on The Net and a feature in Spotify’s ‘Fresh Folk Finds’ editorial playlist. She will be performing with her full band featuring drums, double bass, harmonies & electric guitar.

Entry requirements: no age restrictions (under 18s to be accompanied by an adult over 21yrs, 1:1 ratio)
