A relaxed evening of Folk, Soul and country from Humm and wonderful artist friends at the brilliant Cafe Kino! We encourage the sharing of new songs, sing alongs and experimentation.

Wonderful friends include Dogsbody, Alex Dover and Robyn Lonsdale!

Robyn Lonsdale

Robyn is a 23 year old Neo-Soul/R&B artist, originally from Hereford and now residing in Bath. Heavily influenced by Erykah Badu, Stevie Wonder and Amy Winehouse, Robyn defies conventionality by plucking inspiration from a plethora of genres and creative styles.
With a voice as powerful as it is sensitive, their songs tell stories about the raw reality of heartbreak, anger and regret, as well as sharing personal details about their struggle with mental health. Having performed in venues in and around Herefordshire and the Welsh border, Robyn is excited to showcase their music around Bristol and Bath!

Dogsbody

Bristol-based Dogsbody are a new folk-rock act fronted by cousins Amelia and Oscar “Bambi” Jones, alongside rhythm section Rainer Sewell and Samuel Hunt. Their music weaves tender, evocative lyricism with raw and dissonant instrumentals, crafting deeply cathartic songs.
The band blend the current vogue of grunge, jazz and alternative rock with the essence of the 1960s folk movement, and have been likened to acts such as Radiohead , Elliott Smith and Velvet Underground. Amelia beguiles audiences with her jazz-imbued voice and, when paired with Bambis earthy tone , the two create mesmerizing harmonies.

Alex Dover

Alex Dover combines poignant lyrics, deft guitar work, and a razor-sharp ear for melody. Likened to other singer-storytellers such as John Martyn, John Prine, and Nic Jones, Alex’s songs are always refreshingly original, articulating the hopes, dreams and struggles of the ordinary with a wry lyrical flourish and his trademark melodic guitar.

The music is packed full of enough characters to fill a novel: weapons dealers in conversation with communist idols, the self-reflecting factory worker trapped in a downward spiral, young dreamers wandering empty streets in search of the ghosts of singers past, and so many more.

Humm

Arty Jackson and Carys Lewin are ‘Humm’ a Bath-based contemporary folk duo with stories to tell, minds to change and world’s to re-imagine. Chosen from hundreds as one of four acts to visit, write and perform at Sir Paul & Mike McCartney’s childhood home 20 Forthlin Road, Liverpool as part of the Forthlin Sessions in 2022.

Since 2018 they've captivated audiences with their deadly combination of melodic finger-style guitar, lush ethereal vocals and rich harmonium drones. Capturing nature, folklore and Cornish fairytale in every song. Inspired by a plethora of artists from Richard Thompson and Joni Mitchell to Eels,Radiohead and XTC has helped them unite traditional and contemporary styles forging a fresh new sound.
Humm are fighting and writing for the planet. Striving to create and share their unique, eclectic repertoire with all who will heed.
