Kirk Barley
Kirk is a Yorkshire composer and sound artist, currently based in London, and is our first guest from outside the south west. We've made a point up until now of only booking local artists but we couldn't pass up on the opportunity to bring him to Bristol to play music from his forthcoming LP.
His highly textural music is formed from studio and field recordings, digital synthesis, and musique concrète audio processing techniques. Drawing influence from minimalist music, techno and hip-hop, he experiments with unusual time signatures, just intonation tunings and algorithmic composition, to create a unique and compelling soundworld.
Kirk has performed across the UK, Europe and Canada, and has completed commissioned work for the Open Music Archive and British Art Show.
Orryx
Orryx is the solo project of Christelle Atenstaedt. Her music is both expressive and introspective, a hypnotic ritual of layered synth effects, beats and soaring vocal cries.
Open Ears –Ambient soundscapes, neoclassical piano and electronic upsurges produced with two keyboards, vocals, effects and a loop station. The purpose of Open Ears is to be present, to express emotions and to heal myself, extending this to those who listen.
All profits will be split between the artists. The new price of £7 is the total price, including the processing fee. The slight price increase is to allow our event to be able to pay our artists the money they deserve. It is not an attempt to turn a profit.
If you, or someone you know, creates ambient/drone/soundscape music and would like to be considered for future events please don't hesitate to contact us.
We will strive to ensure equal representation at our shows and as such would love to be pointed in the direction of any local POC, Trans, LGB, non-binary, disabled and female artists who would fit the bill.
