Loose Ends Presents: Shibari and the Trans+ Experience at Cafe Kino

A event held at Cafe Kino on Tuesday 14th July. The event starts at 19:15.

All proceeds from this event will be donated to Trans Mutual Aid organisations in the city.

Approaching Shibari can be incredibly frustrating when your body isn't ever talked about in the training materials. A workshop by and for trans people about how to engage with rope and the trans experience focusing on safety, expression, and self love.

This interactive workshop is designed to be an introduction to Shibari for total beginners, and an oppertunity for more experienced rope enthusiasts to consider how their practice fits into the trans+ experience.

This event is being run by Loose Ends Bristol, who run a regular shibari jam held in PRSC. The class will be lead by Nyx, a trans woman and >10 year shibari practitioner.

What this workshop is

This workshop will be taught as a mix of talks about aspects of tying that will be relevant to trans+ people, including but not limited to:
- How to approach tying safely when wearing compressive clothing
- Considerations for hormonal changes and tying
- How ties can affect body image and dysphoria/euphoria
- Trans safety, navigating kink scenes and consent
As well as tying instruction demonstrating how to approach shibari with self ties for expression, self soothing, and fun.

This workshop does not assume any prior experience nor will it require a partner. There will be oppertunities to ask questions throughout. While this class is aimed specifically at the trans community, cis allies are welcome to attend with an 'ally' ticket as the lessons should help with learning how to appoach tying with trans partners.

Please dress in clothing appropriate for tying if you intend to take part, and be aware that shoes will have to be removed if sitting on the mats.

What this workshop isn't

This is not:
- a play space,
- a rope jam, or
- a dating event

Attendees are expected to engage with the class and not disrupt others looking to learn. If anybody is acting inappropriately, unsafely, or in a way that makes other guests uncomfortable they may be asked to leave. While we encourage a social atmosphere and connecting with the wider rope community please be respectful and mindful of others.

While we will attempt to cover a good foundation of general and trans specific rope safety, rope should still be approached with caution and this class will not teach comprehensive rope safety.
