Body Scans: Mindful Painting Workshop at Centrespace Gallery
See event details

A event held at Centrespace Gallery on Tuesday 10th March. The event starts at 18:00.

Join local artist Amber Bardell at the Women by Women.3 exhibition at Centrespace gallery and follow their mindful body connection technique to create your own painting with natural pigments. Amber forages natural mineral pigments and makes their own paints, which you will have the opportunity to use in this unique workshop. We’ll use the pigments to connect to nature, and follow a guided meditation to be present your body. Then using our creativity, we’ll respond to our meditation with small watercolour self-portrait paintings. You don’t need any experience to join this workshop, the techniques are simple and will be demonstrated. There is also no right way to interpret your body scan, and we aren’t aiming for realism in this class, it’s an invitation for intuitive play! We are hosting a special edition of this workshop at Centrespace gallery as part of the third Women by Women exhibition. During this workshop, you will also have a chance to explore the show and be inspired by some of the pieces surrounding you. In this workshop you will learn a technique that you can take home with you and use to support feeling grounded and present in your body. The session aims to affirm your experience, and sometimes big emotions can arise. We offer space to gently explore our feelings through painting, whilst also respecting the group and the limited container of the session. This is a perfect experience to do with a friend, or for a date, so why not take advantage of the two-ticket deal? Getting here: Centrespace can be accessed via a small ramp has an accessible toilet.
