Kara-Lis Coverdale (LIVE)

[Montreal, Canada]

(Sacred Phrases, Constellation Tatsu, Umor Rex)

KL-C is a composer and performer whose work interrogates the distinction between the human and the machine. Coverdale is active both in the studio and in performance as a keyboardist, organist (her day job sees her in residence at Montreal’s St. John Church) and collaborator (she provided keys for friend/mentor Tim Hecker’s ‘Virgins’ and will feature on his upcoming ‘Love Streams’, as well as further collaborations with Lee Bannon and LXV).

“Her concerts are made for full body immersion, multi layered through multi-timbral synths, her computer a virtual organ engine. Couched in symphonic, post-sacred tonalities and harmonies, the music on Coverdale’s releases Aftertouches and A 480 uses virtual sounds from vocal and instrumental sources to confront traditional genres and consolidate them in the artist’s own precise ways.”

"Truly compelling music [guided by] an omnivorous approach to sound” - The Wire

"K-LC is testing the limits of the electronic world." - THUMP

FFO: Oneohtrix Point Never, Kaityn Aurelia Smith, TCF, Tim Hecker, Donato Dozzy

Joanne Robertson

[London]

(Escho, Feeding Tube Records, Textile Records)

“Joanne Robertson has become known for the lyrical drifting beauty of her music. The two solo albums she’s released, The Lighter and Black Moon Days, have both been hailed as brilliant extensions of the avant-garde wing of the femme-folk tradition. But she is also a form-disrupter of the highest order, as she demonstrated early on with the Blood ‘n Feathers collective, amongst other noise brigands.”

She has played an integral part in Dean Blunt’s recorded (The Redeemer, Stone Island and Black Metal) and occasional live output. He also produced the track Hi-Watt on ‘Black Moon Days’. This performance will feature occasional accompaniment by her husband Jasper “Kool Music” Baydala. They recently toured as together a trio with Paddy Shine (GNOD) filling in on drums. He features on two tracks off her brand new album ‘Wildflower’.

Ocean Floor (Pipe organ)

[Galway, Ireland/Bristol]

(Zamzam Recs)

Aognhus Reidy is a key and idiosyncratic component of the Bristol experimental scene. Known primarily for his organ, harmonium and piano scores, more recently he has been delving into the realm of modular synthesis, performing a stand-out set at Schwetfest. You may have also caught him supporting the likes of Lubomyr Melnyk, playing in Moon Ra or featuring on international radio such as WMFU, Resistencia, NTS and The Wire. We’re happy to announce Reidy will again be making use of the pipe organ at the rear of the church.

FFO: La Monte Young, Klause Schulze, Terry Riley
