piglet EP Launch at Cloak
Headfirst Editor's Pick

"Sell out warning! Vulnerable, tender and epic, seemingly all at once, Piglet pair gorgeously emosh pop music with masterfully disciplined arrangements. Think Caroline and Shovel Dance Collective meets Phoebe Bridgers and you’re getting warm... it’s gorgeous."

A gig held at Cloak on Saturday 16th November. The event starts at 20:30.

piglet is the solo project of Irish songwriter and producer Charlie Loane, born and raised in Belfast and based in South London.

'certainty' is the second track to mark piglet's return since his 2022 'seven songs' EP, after 'panic' with Jemima Coulter was released in June 2024. Both singles bring together the distinct musical worlds of two artists from the trans community. More solo material from piglet will follow later in the year.

The 'seven songs' EP addressed the injustices of British healthcare for trans people in "it isnt fair," and in "to you tonight," a celebration of queer identity. These songs were captured in a live session by NTS Radio of piglet's expanded 9 piece band featuring members of Goat Girl and caroline.

The EP and follow up single “building site outside,” also a deeply personal exploration about the trans experience, led to piglet being selected as part of The Face's One To Watch 23 series and profiled by notable publications So Young and Loud & Quiet. Additionally, his music videos, created in collaboration with trans filmmaker Harv Frost, have supported fundraising efforts for the We Exist charity.

piglet released his first EP ‘alex’s birthday’ in February 2020 on South London DIY label Double Dare, a warm set of songs which, like his writing with past project Great Dad, reflects themes of queer/trans experience, but with more of a personal focus. Subsequently two collaboration tracks with friends Porridge Radio were released in February 2021 through the Secretly Canadian label.

piglet has received strong support from Spotify (including the Fresh Finds, Lo-Fi Indie, Duvet Day & Out Now playlists), Matt Wilkinson at Apple Music 1, a place on NTS Radio's WIP development programme, and UK tour dates with Mercury Award nominated artists Porridge Radio and Goat Girl.

EJ:AKIN
EJ:AKIN is a visual and audio artist from Bristol, creating digital works with a love for other worldly forces and existential imagery. Offering an exploration into the space beyond the silence, they pull from a universal body below the surface of the self. From the transient quiet, to the ruptures of grey noise, Akin shares an essence from the spectrum of experience channelled into sonic form. For fans of ambient, glitchy portals of the cosmos.

THE FULLWIT POP UP TRIO
The Fullwit Pop-Up Trio brings improvised ambient noise with the disruption of a pesky clown tasked with making the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. Performances combine brain-tingling tap dance, saxophone, chimes and whistles with obnoxious clown foley. Expect confusion, laughter, frustration and a gentle soothing of the eardrums in between.
