Scratch Cafe Bristol Scratch Jam at Cloak
See event details

A clubnight held at Cloak on Wednesday 21st February. The event starts at 19:00.

Scratch Cafe is Bristol’s Turntablist Community get together. We’re hosting a scratch jam for all levels and ages on Wednesday 21st February (7-11pm) at the Cloak Cheltenham Road, Bristol.

The focus of this event is on learning, community and DJ culture. Anyone can take part in the scratch jam. You just step up to the decks and freestyle. It’s an inclusive and supportive space so, even if you’re totally new to scratching, get up and do your thing!

It’s a great opportunity to network with other DJs and learn from some former DMC and other global competition winners. There will be scratch workshops and short DJ sets to break up the evening.

WHATS NEW THIS MONTH!
We have the full venue this month (both upstairs and downstairs) so we will be running:
- Beginner specific area down, where Jimi Needles and DJ Quest (former DMC champ) will be running beginner sessions. No matter where you are on your journey, you'll have the space to practice and the expert guidance to learn quickly
- Artist and record label showcases and talks will also be happening downstairs. Symatic from Cut and Paste Records will be showcasing new records on his label, as well as delivering a talk on deep and skipless vinyl. Jimi Needles and Mr. Big Mouth will both be showcasing their upcoming releases (mixes, remixes, original music)
- Upstairs will remain an all levels scratch jam throughout the night (8 bar pass). Every so often we switch it up with a juggle session, beatboxers, b-boys, a scratch drumming jam, etc.

If you have one, bring down a scratch record you are used to using.

If you want to brush up on your skills ahead of the session, why not check out Mr. Big Mouth’s scratch technique shorts on Tik Tok @mrbigmoutbeatsdj

Entry requirements: no age restrictions (under 18s to be accompanied by an adult over 21yrs, 1:1 ratio)
