A
event
held at The Cloak and Dagger
on Sunday 4th June. The event starts at 19:00.
Greetings fellow debauchers.
Our next night is about to land! So please join us in June as we journey through time and salacious space to bring you another offering of Debauched Tales.
We will be traversing the outer limits of erotic literature; crossing the tracks to bring you tales of alien love, and love across class and national boundaries.
A night of amatory exploration, the same smut with smatterings of sensually different worlds.
Debauched Tales | Alien Love & Strange New Worlds at The Cloak & Dagger on Sunday 4th June at (the slightly earlier time of) 7:00pm.
Please note this event takes place downstairs in the Carousel, for information on accessibility please email [email protected]
Many of you will already be aware the situation we are in, and have supported us through it in so many ways For that, we are so, so grateful.
Sadly, Cloak and Dagger will be shutting its doors for the last time in a month, on the 16th of June. There are many reasons behind this - our opening months before the first lockdown was very unfortunate, but we were able to push through that.
To cut a long story short, recent noise complaints have cost us thousands in lost revenue, and we have run out of funds to continue. We appreciate everyone who has come to our venue and had a good time, you supported a not-for-profit, doing everything possible to give people opportunities to perform. Thank you all!
We are sad to call it a day but we're really tired. We simply have run out of steam to keep the dream alive at this venue. When we took over in 2019 the building needed so much work and investment to get it functioning, a few months later we were closed. Cloak & Dagger has gone through every transition imaginable, blood, sweat and tears on a daily basis… but it has been, at most times, good and often fantastic.
.
We were a magic bar, afternoon tea hotspot, clothes shop, roast dinner deliveries, restaurant, event space and everything in between.
This year was looking to be our best, where things were finally coming together. The record shop, radio station, perfect underground music venue and great community activities. Our diary was full and it was likely we were actually going to get a small return.
Unfortunately the Council enforced restrictions on us which pulled the rug out. The financial losses this has created simply mean we cannot continue. We are devastated that we couldn’t be recognised for our strengths and benefits for their city but instead we were a nuisance for a private tenant.
