Try Me + Support at The Cloak and Dagger

A gig held at The Cloak and Dagger on Tuesday 31st January. The event starts at 19:30.

Welcome to the madhouse, be ready for some bonkers behaviour and bassline bangers.

Try Me!

Genre nonconforming girl-boy duo comprised of Hector Boogieman and Bendy Wendy. The duo was formed after the famous alien invasion of Bristol (2019), joining forces to protect their community with flamboyant energy and catchy singles. The battle is still being fought today and they are in need of your help! Join them in their adventure to grow positive energy and giggles in hopes of a brighter future for Bristol-kind.

Their style is interwoven with multiple threads: from funk influenced bass lines to abrasive, electronic stompers to 90s styled hip hop. It’s clear they are attempting to create something new and authentic in the hopes of influencing the contemporary dance scene, utilising joy and silliness where things may have perhaps become too serious.

Alexander Canwell

Channelling multiple disciplines into his performance and artefacts, Alexander Canwell is a self-declared 'Fool of the Undergrowth'.

His play-writing has been staged in the UK and across the pond in New York’s Soho Theatre. His music reeks of Tom Waits meeting The Streets on magic mushrooms and like Waits, he sees his craft as stemming from the circus tradition.

Alexander places himself in a lineage branching from artists like Mr Waits, worming around the music halls of London's pub culture and then off back through a mist of Bards into a deep cave where a masked figure dances magick and spits out paint onto the walls, entertaining the tribe with instinctual passion.

Honkus Ponkus

New to the Bristol live music scene, making their debut performance at an open mic with their ridiculous clownyness but equally as impressive musical abilities we just had to get them in for this night.

Cloak Room CIC have successfully been awarded funds from the amazing Music Venue Trust! Music Venue Trust is a UK registered charity which acts to protect, secure and improve Grassroots Music Venues. C&D will be using our fund to make improvements to our PA system and host workshops for our promoters. If you would like to attend our training sessions check @Headfirst Bristol for more information!
