JUNUN at The Lantern
£16.50 incl. booking fee

A gig held at The Lantern on Monday 26th June. The event starts at 20:00pm.

Meaning “mania”, or “the madness of love”, Junun is a collaborative recording project between Israeli composer שי בן צור - Shye Ben Tzur and The Rajasthan Express, a group of devotional Sufi Indian qawwal musicians who will bring Tzur’s compositions alive in this remarkable performance.

Filmed by Paul Thomas Anderson and subsequently made into a documentary, the ensemble recorded the double album ‘Junun’ in a makeshift studio in Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur, India, with Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood and Nigel Godrich also involved in the conception and capture of the music. The resulting collection of songs is a stunningly visceral junction of voices and hands, melodies and rhythms.
