Zoe Rahman has firmly established herself as one of the brightest stars on the contemporary jazz scene. A vibrant and highly individual pianist/composer, her style is deeply rooted in jazz yet it reflects her classical background, British /Bengali heritage and her very broad musical taste. Her solo release 'Dreamland' (2016) was praised as "a powerful testament to this fine pianist's growing authority" (The Guardian).
Led by co-founder and former Empirical trumpeter Jay Phelps, JPQ's music is a journey through different styles and temperaments, channelling the zeitgeist of contemporary jazz. Phelps has spent the last two years travelling the world and, through his music, documenting a personal spiritual evolution. Their new album 'Free as the Birds' (due for release in June 2017) centres around this theme of travel and shines a light onto Phelps' rather lovely singing voice.
