The Eastern Strings duo's richly adventurous combination of classical precision, world music energy, and characterful jazz improvisation consistently sets the concert hall buzzing.
Here, Daphna Sadeh (double bass) and Knud Stüwe (oud) are joined by three kindred spirits: adventurous accordionist Mirek Salmon, master percussionist Ricardo De Noronha, and exuberant clarinettist Tom Verity of the Welsh National Opera. Together, they play powerful and dramatic tango, with its mix of earthy vitality and urban chic; whirling klezmer, ranging from fabulous, feral power to urgent longing; and rich and evocative Middle Eastern-inspired original compositions: spirited music that appeals to an organic urge to dance.
The band's distinctive style is simply exhilarating, delivering hot-blooded folk-dance tunes of verve and passion.
