Bunja Conteh is an adventurous Gambian master of the kora in the ancient tradition of hereditary Mandinka griots. The 21-stringed harp is one of the most gloriously versatile instruments on the planet, deeply entrenched in many West African cultures. His wife, Liz Conteh, is an illustrious player of the African djembe drum and a dynamic and melodic guitarist. It's difficult to imagine greater empathy between two outstanding musicians from different cultures that prove to have so much in common.

Together with their superb collective, operating at the height of their talent, they engage in a far-reaching cross-cultural collaboration, playing life-affirming, percussive, kora-driven original music; profoundly beautiful arrangements of ancient Mandinka traditionals; and heartfelt and inventive Cymru chamber folk.

Switching between the tranquil and hypnotic and the more rapid-fire and rousing, their rich song collection evokes the traditions of their African and Welsh homelands with a lush contemporary vibe. A wonderful, danceable musical experience.
